For a Tomales Bay oyster outing, head to the Marshall shore of the bay and pick the stop that fits your group. Some places serve a meal; others sell oysters to take away. Check each business's hours before setting out.
Eat by the water
Hog Island's Boat Oyster Bar serves outdoor meals at the farm and lists a walk-in shuck-your-own day. It recommends reservations for its full-service days. The Marshall Store is another counter-service oyster stop on the bay. For a seated meal, check Nick's Cove or Tony's Seafood.
Take oysters home
Tomales Bay Oyster Company sells oysters to take away and says there is no picnicking at its farm. Bring a cooler and follow the seller's food-handling directions. This is separate from recreational shellfish collecting, which requires checking current health advisories and state rules.
For a quiet base after the outing, Sea Esta sleeps up to four in Dillon Beach and does not accept pets. See live availability; rates vary by season. Compare other bases in the portal's Tomales Bay lodging guide.
